NO on 3, Stop the Ban Missouri Statement on Missourians Rejecting Amendment 4

Missouri – Last night, Missourians resoundingly rejected politicians’ attempt to take away their power to initiate and pass initiative petitions. For more than 100 years, Missourians have relied on their constitutional right to direct democracy to act when politicians have failed or proven to be out-of-touch with voters.

Most recently, Missourians used the citizen-led initiative petition process to pass the Right to Reproductive Freedom Amendment in 2024 with a majority vote, which ended the state’s ban on abortion and protected reproductive freedom in the state constitution.

Amendment 3, which will appear on the November 3 ballot, is politicians’ latest attempt to overturn the will of the people and repeal the 2024 voter-approved Right to Reproductive Freedom Amendment.

The No on 3, Stop the Ban Campaign, the coalition committed to defeating Amendment 3 and protecting the Right to Reproductive Freedom, issued the following statement on the defeat of Amendment 4:

“Last night, Missourians rejected Amendment 4 and made clear that we are not going to give up our power to decide what happens in Missouri and hand it over to politicians and the special interest groups that control them. Amendment 3 is the same politicians’ attempt to repeal our vote, take control away from families, and once again ban abortion. As we did last night, Missourians will vote NO on Amendment 3 to protect the will of the people and stop the abortion ban.”
