NO on 3, Stop the Ban Missouri Opens Headquarters to Defeat Politicians’ Abortion Ban, Amendment 3

St. Louis – Missourians joined the NO on 3, Stop the Ban headquarters grand opening this past Sunday to pick up yard signs, knock on doors, and meet the team fighting against politicians’ latest attempt to ban abortion.

Speaking at the event was a St. Louis native who shared her personal story with a pregnancy that left her and her husband faced with every parent’s worst fear. Halfway through her pregnancy with twins, one suddenly became terminally ill due to a complication.

“Our son’s condition worsened quickly, and his organs were showing signs of decline,” said Jayme, who shared her personal experience with a pregnancy complication. “Every option in front of us had varying levels of risk to the twins and we had to make decisions quickly. But my husband and I were able to discuss our options with our doctor, without political interference, without threats of imprisonment or fines. Together, we were able to make a terribly difficult decision, but a lifesaving one that ultimately saved one of our sons. An abortion saved his life.”

Campaign spokesperson and Planned Parenthood Great Rivers Action President and CEO, Margot Riphagen-Dunn, reminded attendees of the 2024 effort to end the abortion and the harm Missourians would face under the new Amendment 3.

“In 2024, hundreds of thousands of Missourians came together to put the Right to Reproductive Freedom Initiative on the ballot, which ended the abortion ban and protected reproductive freedom,” said Riphagen-Dunn. “Now, we have to defeat the politician-led Amendment 3 to stop the abortion ban and keep private medical decisions where they belong, with families and doctors, not politicians and lawyers.”

Since the Right to Reproductive Freedom Amendment’s passage, politicians have failed to update laws and wasted resources defending unconstitutional restrictions in court, and attempted to gut the people’s right to the initiative petition while preserving the power only for politicians. Now they are forcing Missourians to vote on a new abortion ban in November, Amendment 3, which would overturn the will of voters.

Stop the Ban Missouri’s St. Louis office will serve as its home base for organizing volunteers, hosting community events, and launching major canvass efforts. Every conversation we have will allow us to cut through misinformation and build the momentum we need to defeat Amendment 3.
